Dynamic watermark to prevent screen capturing

We added a feature to discourage screen captures of videos via S3Media Stream if you work with a membership system. It displays the Name or username of the visitor with IP address and date. If a video is not in a membership area (as in the example), the name is replaced with USER NOT LOGGED IN.
If a false IP address is used, it also prints the forwarding IP address.

This feature is available as a separate zip archive for all customers with a valid subscription in the download area. The zip contains 3 files:

  1. watermark-README_FIRST.txt
  2. watermark.png
  3. watermark.php

This feature works works with all installed versions of S3Media Stream and Footprint Player, whether in Joomla 1.5, 2.5 or 3.x

You have to add a rewrite rule in the .htaccess file in the root of your Joomla installation.  Read the watermark-README_FIRST.txt on how to do this.
Then upload watermark.png and watermark.php to the root of your Joomla installation.

Finally, you only need to type watermark.png in the logo field of the wizard or in the shortcode like this: logo=watermark.png.  That's it.

If mod_rewrite is not enabled on your server, it won't work.  In that case, ask the hosting provider to enable it.

It is possible that some servers do not have the required files (php libraries) to generate dynamic images. In that case, it won't work.

Is this feature GDPR compliant?

Since the details are not stored in a database but simply shown there is no personal information on file. If the viewer screen captures the video, he/she willingly copies that information, therefore GDPR doesn't apply. Apart from the fact that this action is illegal in itself (you will need to make that clear in yout terms of use, though).
